Brass French
Modern brass instruments including trumpet, trombone, baritone, sousaphone (tuba), and the French horn. These instruments create a wide variety of tones by the player by forcing air into the instrument by which resonate in different ways (different frequencies).
There are two different kinds of brass instruments, with slide valve. The valves are used to change the shape and size of the instrument (which causes wind player to change your route and length, making that the instrument to resonate differently). The valved brass instruments include cornet, trumpet, French horn. They use piston valves (cornet), or rotary valves (French horn). The musician has to learn which combinations produce valves for the use of certain tones your mouth (the position and strength of her lips on the mouthpiece of the instrument) to make the tone lower or higher in pitch. Slide brass instruments use a slide to change the length of the pipe and therefore the tone of the instrument. More common in this type of instrument is the trombone.
Some instruments brass need to be transposed to piano. For example, a Bb trumpet or an Eb alto sax. When the written note C is played on a trumpet, is the same note, like a BB in a piano. It is very important for the pianist to be aware of this in order to communicate with the trumpeter. The same goes for the pianist to play with other instruments that fit differently, as a French horn or alto sax.
Music for brass ensembles (four to six horns) often uses the piano as an accompanying instrument. A pianist with experience can help with the whole performance, helping them to try the most difficult passages. The piano, in this case, also helps fill arrangement and plays an important role in creating the rhythm of the piece. And, as mentioned above, the pianist must be aware of the different key for each instrument wind in order to communicate effectively with the group. For example, if the group included a tuba, the pianist should know if this is a tuba, or Bb EB in order to help test the musician in the most efficient manner possible.
The big bands (swing, dance and jazz) contain a number of brass instruments and most if not all, include also a piano. The pianist provides assistance to the chord structure, rhythm, and sometimes the melody of the piece. Big band music can be quite complex, particularly when it comes to the structure of chords and progressions. Very often, the pianist is playing the same chord with brass instruments grouped, while at the same time contributing to the pace and style of music. A piano is also very common in jazz combos and vocal groups.
Interestingly, many brass instruments not brass at all. Some, like the French horn, are silver nickel or other alloys of copper, tin and nickel. Many brass instruments silver (and that have a distinctive sound because of this). Although rare, some are brass plated in gold and are prized for their appearance (rather than something only sound they make).
